This video demonstrates the professional method for opening the UltraGator tag:

If you have studied the links above, you should have identified the key points for opening this tag without significant damage. You likely also realized that official detachers are MASSIVE, impractical, non-universal, and essentially useless scrap if you waste your money on them. Sensormatic discontinued this tag type long ago; they are being phased out and are increasingly rare in modern retail environments.

Ultra Gator tags are proprietary and unique, manufactured exclusively by Sensormatic. Consequently, these are strictly AM type sensors, as Sensormatic did not produce RFID tags during their production run.

Inside the tag, the pin is held by a rectangular metal plate with a specific H-shaped cutout, where two internal tabs lock the pin in place. Releasing the pin requires bending this plate, causing the two tab edges to spread and release the grip on the pin.

The dual needle-nose pliers method is the most effective for this tag type: simply grip the two recesses on the tag and bend it into an arc away from the pin.

What else is there to say? They are vulnerable to small magnets; as shown in my videos, it is extremely easy to suppress the tag's response by simply placing a small magnet over the internal EAS element location. Additionally, these tags are brittle and will snap in half if twisted.

Reminder: Our project stands against barbaric methods. Destroying tags is unprofessional and a direct path to property damage charges, even if no theft occurs.
